Caring about our Children and our Elders
Dear Friends,
It seems that in much of our society, we're separated by age—childcare, schools, senior services. How precious, then, are shared community places where all generations are comfortable together, matter so much.
In Senate District 10, we are fortunate to have many places that do just that. I'm thinking of our wonderful city parks, with playgrounds and walking trails, where one might see both a child on a tricycle and an older adult enjoying a walk. The Monmouth-Independence Trolley is another great community resource for all ages. Public libraries offer a wealth of free programming to support every generation's love of reading.
These spaces don't happen by accident. We are stronger as a society when our public dollars are spent in ways that benefit all ages, all across the state. I will continue to advocate for support for early childhood education, K-12 schools, higher education, working families, and services for older adults. I am standing up every day for an Oregon that works for all.
I'm committed to continuing this work every day. I hope you'll stand with me.
Warmly,
Deb
