Thank You and A Word from Another Politician

Victor Hugo is known as the author of Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, written in mid-19th century France. Did you know that he was also a politician, serving in the French National Assembly?

Hugo fought for an end to misery and poverty in his country. He said, “The future has many names. For the weak, it is the impossible. For the fainthearted, it is the unknown. For the thoughtful and the valiant, it is the ideal. The challenge is urgent, the task is large, the time is now.”

Tuesday's mid-term elections showed us that people across our State, and across our great nation saw that the challenge was urgent, that the task was large, and the time was now. Now is the time to work together thoughtfully and valiantly towards that which can create an Oregon that works for all.

Thank you for your support of my race. I am grateful and eager to continue to serve. There is much to do together.

Special thanks to my hardworking Campaign Manager, Jade Haddad, and to our campaign interns - Mackenzie Boyd, Parker Gauldin, and Brendan Butler. Thanks also to everyone who knocked on thousands of doors. That was truly a herculean task, often in support of other races on the ballot, as well. I’m grateful to have been part of the slate of amazing Democratic candidates in Marion and Polk Counties.

This campaign held its own because of your strong support - donating, hosting house parties and yard signs, making phone calls, and talking with neighbors. Thank you. I'm also grateful for the support of partners with similar values, representing labor, education, housing, healthcare, and economic development.

Oregonians want good jobs, access to affordable healthcare, childcare, housing and the basics – like utilities and food. They want good schools and safe streets in communities with quality of life for all. We heard this from nurses, laborers and tradespeople, homecare workers, firefighters, school bus drivers, and many others who want everyone to get a fair chance here in Oregon.

We have a lot of work to do here to tackle the issues facing our communities, but with vision, courage, and hard work, we can do this together. Thank you for entrusting me with the chance to do this work with you in this Senate District.

Gratefully,

Deb

About Those Yard Signs

Thank you to everyone who hosted a yard sign! We won’t be needing them again for another four years, so if you would be willing to stash it somewhere till then, that would be wonderful, but we are happy to pick them up if you would prefer. Please e-mail our campaign office at Jade@DebPattersonOR.org.
