We Decide Our Fate
This year, on July 4th, our country celebrated the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The framers of the Constitution left no doubt where the concentration of power was to be in our government. “We the People,” they wrote. The power, they stated, here in the United States of America, must rest with the people. In those three words, “We the People,” lie an enormous gift – kings and dictators do not decide our fate.
In those three words also lie a monumental challenge. It is a charge to the citizens of this great land to make our government what it ought to be. We decide our fate.
We have only ten days left before the midterm elections are held across our country, which have the potential to change the course of our nation. I know that many of you have already voted; many of you have supported candidates and campaigns through contributions, phone calls, postcards, knocking on doors, and reaching out to friends and neighbors in other ways. Thank you.
Your help is still needed.
I am certain you are supporting several campaigns, and I am grateful for your help, as well. I still need to raise a few thousand more dollars before the end of this campaign, and your help is greatly appreciated!
We still need to make a few more phone calls to reach voters to be sure they return their ballots. And if you can help knock on a few doors, please let us know.
Please reach out to my Campaign Manager, Jade Haddad, so that she can get you information to reach voters in your area. Her e-mail is Jade@DebPattersonOR.org.
I am grateful.
I am grateful to be taking part in this grand experiment, now beginning its 251st year, known as democracy, here in this nation. We decide our fate, and I am grateful to be working with you toward a destiny that we can create together – a just, fair, and compassionate society that works for the good of all.
With sincere thanks,
Deb
