Deb Patterson earned an undergraduate degree from Yankton College in Yankton, South Dakota, an M.Mus. from the University of South Dakota, an M.H.A. from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and both an M.Div. and a D.Min. from Eden Theological Seminary. Patterson's professional experience includes working as a healthcare administrator, running an international health organization, serving as vice president of a children's health foundation, serving on the senior management team of a multi-hospital health system, and serving as an ordained clergy member in a Protestant denomination. She has served as a member of the Salem Rotary, as a member of Healthcare for All Oregon, and as a member of SEIU 503.
